Mercy Thompson: Homecoming by Patricia Briggs
Mercy Thompson is a walker … a person with the magical ability to turn into a coyote ( kind of lame, I’ll explain). When leaving home to go to a new town in the middle of no where for a job interview she is stuck in the middle of a war between wolves. She makes a mess of things and I have no idea why.
I have never read any of the Mercy Thompson book so I was a bit confused. This is the first book … well graphic novel and it lacks so much that I think I’ll just stick to the novel version of this book.
Firstly, WHY CAN SHE TURN INTO A COYOTE? All throughout the book it was if her coyote ability did nothing for her. She really couldn’t beat the wolves who attacked her out of nowhere. She was better as a human and even then she kept getting her butt kicked. That was extremely disappointing.
Secondly, this graphic novel does not explain anything about her Mercy Thompson. She just came to be. Yes, she has a mother who feels that Mercy isn’t doing too great with her life but it explains NOTHING.
I loved the illustrations though and the fighting scenes weren’t bad. I give this a 6 out of 10 points. It had so much potential.
Should I read the novel or continue the graphic novel?
